Weekend Rewind...

Weekend Rewind....

First a little bit of the week in review....

Hub and I left Tuesday for Pigeon Forge-just a little get a way for a few days--a full week of Bible School, Wedding Planning, and other stuff happening just needed to get a way.  Boy I was sure more than ready!  I like going to Pigeon Forge because it is getting away and yet not too far in case something happens and we need to return home quickly.  Just relaxing and doing nothing is okay with me right now.

Tuesday, I woke up with the sniffles-so I took some over the counter meds and finished up some things around the house before heading out.  It was hot in Pigeon Forge-100+ degrees.  Quick as one stepped out of the vehicle one made a mad dash for the air conditioner!

Hub and I have been wanting to purchase a cabin in this area so we spent the biggest part of the day cabin looking. The ones I really liked wasn't in the location I wanted.  I don't mind the mountainous area, but I do not want to be on the very tip top!  The view was stunning but if I want to be able to go in the winter season I need another vehicle to get to it so....we just kept looking.

Wednesday my sniffles had turned into something else.  My throat hurt, my head hurt, and I had lost my voice.   Image result for snifflesI tried to not feel bad for hub, because I know hub wanted to go shopping for our coffee shop and pick up some other things.  I trudged along sneezing, watery eyes, and taking more over the counter meds and drinking lots and lots of water which also meant stopping at every restroom along the way. Hub was able to pick up a few items he had been wanting.

By Thursday, I needed to go home.  I felt miserable!  On the drive home, I felt worse and worse and daughter had called doctor for me and told him my symptoms and thankfully had an antibiotic wanting.  I took antibiotic and went straight for bed!  Here I stayed until Friday morning.

Saturday, daughter had an hair appointment to see how she wanted her hair the day of her wedding.  The appointment wasn't until 12 ish so I just new I would feel better.  I got up early to take a shower, a shower does make one feel better, and I did a few things around the house.  I met her at the hair dresser and I absolutely loved the sophisticated style she had chosen for her special day.  About an hour later, I had to leave-the sickness had returned and I needed to go.  I was able to see most of her hairstyle; later that afternoon I felt much better and made it through the trail make-up session!  Her bridal photo session is this Friday, and I hope I don't cry. ahem

Step-son called Saturday night asking how I felt, which is strange he never does unless he wants something, oh yeah-he wanted us to keep the boys after church Sunday. I was feeling better Sunday but not 100% up to par.  I knew step-son had something planned, I mean here is a person that did not even come and see his dad on Father's Day! choosing to go hang out with friends.  Anyway as bad as I was still feeling, the boys came out (ages 6 and 2).  Both my daughters stayed and really helped-fixing dinner and really playing with them.  Hub called step-son as we were leaving for church that evening and said he could pick boys up after church.  Step-son said he was having a cook-out and for us to bring boys home. Like I said, I knew something was being planned earlier.  I chose not to go with hub to take boys home because I know me--I say what I think!  So glad I didn't go because I was right-daughter #2 went and said the scene was not a good one.  I just can't see how one in his late 30's and early 40's put a party scene before ones kids.  I mean he has one child whose mother has given up (age 6) and another child (age 2) by a person who has given up her two children, doesn't have a good past (trouble with law and served time) and still one wants to party!!  I could go on and on...but maybe another day I can write about all of this that is so heavy on my heart.  I just glad hub did not put up a fuss when I said I wasn't going to go with him to take boys home.

This morning the sun is shining and the temps are cooler.  I still have the sniffles but not as bad.  Step-son will be bringing grandson (age 6) down-yeah I keep all summer.  Grandson (age 2) goes somewhere else-yep that is another story one day for me to write.

My house is upside down-so much to try and get done today.  You know when Mom is isn't feeling the best in the world how things do not get done, right?  So I have much to do today.

Have a great week.

Weekend Rewind...

Weekend Rewind...

Vacation Bible School

Our week was filled with nights of sharing Jesus to 160+ kids every night.  How amazing!!  The theme was Duck Dynasty and all lessons were built around parables: Faith, Forgiveness, Prayer, Obedience, and Kindness.   Each night the kids enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by volunteers in Miss May's Kitchen. Saturday evening was our closing along with Family Worship Night.During this week 12 were baptized and 2 rededicated their life to Christ.  Prizes were given out along with certificates. Grandson is proud of his certificate.  He had a great time all week.

Saturday, hub and I celebrated out 34th wedding anniversary.
Now, I am helping daughter#2 plan her wedding.  My first thought...gosh no skin is showing in my wedding dress....another story..

Daughters and I took hub out to eat on Sunday, along with my mother who was celebrating her 77th birthday. It was a beautiful day until the storms rolled in later.

My daughters are so lucky to have a caring dad.  One who will go to the end of the earth with them.

Later, we began some more wedding details.
I tried helping, but then all I could do was laugh.  I don't know why I laughed maybe to alleviate some of the stress that daughter is feeling.  Daughter didn't take to keen to my laughing so I removed myself from the area.

Wishing all a great week.  Enjoy Life!

Weekend Rewind....

Graduation.....Wedding....Softball....Apartment Looking.....

A busy week to a busy weekend....

School ended Friday, and this Little Guy graduated from Kindergarten.

The children presented a program on Wednesday morning.  They were adorable!!

A proud moment for Mamaw and Buddy.

They had an award ceremony on Thursday....and grandson received a Citizenship Award and a Reading Award.
Grandson had a fabulous teacher; she wrote a little something about each child.

So glad his first year of school, was a great one.

Gorgeous Saturday for a wedding.  Daughter's longtime friend was getting married.  These girls were close in high school, went separate ways for college-University of Alabama/ University of Va. at Wise and still remained friends.  The wedding was gorgeous and so glad the weather cooperated!  However, one must say we left a lasting impression. It was an outside wedding in a huge hay field.  And it was hot!! After the ceremony there was plenty of drinks under the tent.  And it was still hot-so hot the cake was melting and sliding to one side.  The longer the evening continued the hotter and muggier it became.  We left before dinner was served-which was around 8 -the wedding began at 6:30.  I figured sitting for almost 2 hrs. was enough and I was still hot!   On the way out, daughter put car in a ditch!!  Yep a ditch!!  We were stuck-so much for trying to sneak out!  The best man recognized daughter and he got others in the wedding party to pull us out!!  Shew!!  No damage to the car except tearing off the license plate!  Lucky for us.

Sunday was a day of watching future son-in-law play softball.  Shew! it was hot! Hub and I (well mostly me) wanted to see the apartment these two had rented.  Mother needs to approve, right?  They will be living about an hour away..not too bad. A cozy apartment and I must say it was nicer than the one hub and I started out in!  New carpet will put down this week and then they can start moving in some furniture.  A nice apartment and pet friendly.

Tomorrow is a work day for teachers.Mostly packing away my room and straightening up a bit.  One more day after tomorrow and summer vacation will begin!

Have a great week!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What's something you're looking forward to in the month of June?

Just getting up and having my cup of coffee and not rushing to school.  Hub and I will celebrate our 34th anniversary the 20th of June!

2. In what way have you come full circle?

I don't think I have yet???  I began my career teaching and plan on retiring this December ending 33 years in the classroom!  We have moved many times (and might be again--ahem).  I think hub and I are somewhat 'empty nesters'.  I think hub and I are beginning to be the same as we were in the beginning-still looking for adventure and still dreaming.

3. Lonely Planet lists 10 spots in America you should see in 2015 and the reasons why. How many on the list have you seen? Which one on the list would you most liketo see?

Queens NY, Western South Dakota, New Orleans, Colorado River Region, North Conway NH, Indianapolis IN, Greenville SC, Oakland CA, Duluth MN, and the Mount Shasta Region CA

Haven't seen any :(    I would like to visit North Conway, NH because one day I want to travel to the New England area.

4. A song that describes your mood right now?

5. Strawberry ice cream, strawberry short cake, strawberry pie, or strawberries right off the vine...your favorite?

Strawberries right off the vine!

6. Aesop's birthday is celebrated on June 4th, although there is some disagreement as to whether or not that's accurate, or if he was even a real person. Regardless, the name Aesop is associated to this day with many well known fables. Which of the following best applies to something in your life right now? The Tortoise and the Hare(Slow and Steady wins the race), The Ant and the Grasshopper (Be prepared), The Fox and the Goat (Look before you leap) or The Crow and the Pitcher (Necessity is the mother of invention)?

7. The answer is yes...what's the question?
How about two? Are you ready for school to be out?
