Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond

1. It's often said we should be grateful for small blessings. What is one small blessing you are feeling especially grateful for today?

Knowing I made it through the day!

2. How do you feel about leftovers, not just on Thanksgiving but after any meal? Favorite thing to make/eat using your Thanksgiving leftovers?

I live off of leftovers!  AND some things taste better that has been in the refrigerator for a couple of days.

My favorite to make/eat using my Thanksgiving leftovers is a Turkey Sandwich!

3. Sherwin Williams unveiled it's 2022 Color of the Year-Evergreen Fog. Are you a fan? Would I find this mid-tone gray green shade anywhere in your house? Does your house need painting? Inside or out? What one space is most in need of a paint job? Are you a do-it-yourselfer or do you hire a professional?

Would not find this evergreen shade in my house, but I like the color.  My house could use some indoor painting, some rooms and doors.  I would say, the most needed room painting would be my bathrooms.  Oh, definitely hire a professional.

4. What is one aspect of the way you were parented that you are grateful for today?

To always help others who need help.  I remember on Christmas, in fact it was the first Christmas hub and I were married.  I was completing my student teaching and hub was working, so money was kinda tight.  My dad came to the house and gave me a list...toys, sizes of clothing, sizes of shoes, and everyday hygiene items to buy.  He didn't ask BUT told me to buy these things.  There was a family he knew whose house had burnt down and I was to buy for this family...2 children and 1 adult.  Now, money was tight, but I found a way to purchase all the items on the list.  I didn't know this family, but my dad did!  Today, I always try my best to help whenever I know someone who needs assistance with anything.  So grateful for Dad!

5. Write an acrostic for the word-thankful

Trusting friends

Health

Attending church

Nature

Knowing God

Family

United States

Live stream (see answer below)

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Last evening, I went to my son-in-law's house to watch our local high school team compete in the Semi-finals in Volleyball.  Tickets were sold on-line and sold out.  The game was being played in Chilhowie and our gym is small.  Keith and I had decided to watch the game on his TV--live stream.  Which is a great idea.  I knew the gym would be packed, I would be hot (our gym is AKA the HOT BOX), and wearing a mask would add to the hotness.   Our girls lost, but they never gave up.  A great season for Chilhowie Volleyball.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond
Thank-you Joyce for re-starting the HP!

1. How did you name your blog and do you now wish you had thought about it maybe another five minutes before hitting publish? Would you change your blog title if it were not a huge pain in the derriere?

I must have been really enjoying life...back in the day!  To Enjoy Life means to be happy from within and to be happy/thankful for what you have.  Some circumstances that happens to us can't be avoided (I KNOW!) and these circumstances make it hard to enjoy life.  But God gives us life to Enjoy Life.  I use to have a terrible habit of worrying about the yesterdays or the tomorrows and missed out on enjoying the present.

So Enjoy Life now!  I don't think I would change the title of my blog.

2. What bill do you least like to pay?

The electric bill.

3. What is your favorite word? Okay okay, calm down. How about one of your favorite words?

Faith which also means trust.
I have this acronym:
Fully
Anticipating
It
To
Happen

4. Is the glass half full or half empty? Elaborate.

Half-full--really trying to be more optimistic and when a negative thought enters I quickly get it out of my head.  When we see the world with rose-tinted glasses, the world does have a softer appearance.

5. Were you here for that very first Hodgepodge post? If so, were your answers then similar to what they are today? Tell us what was happening in your life in November of 2010?

I honestly, don't think I was here for the very first Hodgepodge.

November 2010, I was teaching full time, had one daughter in pharmacy school and the other daughter was playing college basketball.  Probably staying very busy!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Planning a surprise birthday for my aunt this weekend. Her birthday was this past Sunday, but she was sick with a head cold so moving the celebration to this weekend.

I am really enjoying this weather...great temps in the 70s.

I got this in the mail this week

I am good for another 10 years!

Have a great rest of the week and Enjoy Life!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Three things you're grateful for this first week of November?

My family, friends, and my church

2. Is Daylight Savings Time a thing where you live? Do you think we should continue setting the clocks forward and back? Why or why not? If you could add an extra hour to your day would you want it added morning-noon-night? Do you think it likely you'd be more productive or more likely that you'd just waste more time?

I dread Daylight Savings Time!!  I wish they would leave the time alone.  It gets dark by 5 o'clock , and I definitely need my daylight.  More daylight to my evenings/night and I would be more productive.  Now, starting Monday, it is a little dark when I leave and almost dark when I get home.

3. Who is  your favorite author? Your favorite book by your favorite author?

Kristin Hannah---I haven't read a book she hasn't written that I don't love, so I can't pick a favorite book!!

4. It's National Sandwich Day...will you celebrate? How often do you eat a sandwich? What's your favorite?

I might eat a sandwich today; it is a cool, rainy day which might call for soup and a sandwich.  Rarely, do I eat a sandwich.  My favorite is a homegrown tomato sandwich with mayonnaise.

5. Have you started your Christmas shopping? If so when did you start? If not when will you start? Do you give more or fewer gifts than you did five years ago?

Yes, only because daughter texted me pics of what she wanted me to get the boys.  I usually don't start Christmas shopping till after Thanksgiving.  I want to enjoy Thanksgiving.  I give fewer gifts than I did five years ago because my family has gotten smaller.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Went to visit a friend in Bristol this past weekend.  A celebration of TWO birthdays.  There were lots and lots of food.

AND CAKE!

Love these friends!
Have a great rest of the week!
