Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond

1. What's something that makes you feel stressed? How do you cope?

Giving these SOL Test for the state of Virginia!!!  For the students who get read aloud as an accommodation, we have to read orally to each one because the test all different.  For example, if they miss an easy question it bumps them back to easier passages and if they are doing great answering the questions, the test bumps them to more higher level questions...hence is why tested individually and read orally.  I am recorded reading the test and the recording is sent to the Department of Education.  SHEW!!!  After so long I begin to cough, take a drink of water, and then become strangled!!!  Double SHEW!!!

I am coping because I do see the light at the end of the tunnel.

2. What's a food you eat that evokes a memory? Explain.

Watermelon   We had a farm when I was growing up.  My dad didn't want to live on the farm so we didn't.  The farm was about 20 minutes away from our house.  On a hot evening we would have to bale hay....no such think as the rolled bales now.  I had to wear long sleeves and long pants to protect myself from the hay scratching me as I would pick up a hay bale and throw it on the tractor.  This was usually started around 4 0'clock.  You talk about sweating....not a dry spot on me.  After we finished, which was usually around 9pm,  we headed home to sit on our porch and eat ice-cold watermelon.  Nothing tasted so cool and refreshing as this watermelon.

3. This week's Hodgepodge lands on National Visit Your Relatives Day. Will you celebrate by visiting a relative? If so is travel involved? Geographically, who is your nearest relative (not counting those living in your own house)?

I will be visiting relatives on Thursday for a high school graduation.  Only takes about 30 minutes to get there.  My nearest relative is my mom...5 minutes away.

4. What's your most frequently used emoji? Do you make more phone calls, send more emails, or mainly text to communicate with friends and family?

My most frequently used emoji here lately has been the praying hands.  So much has happened to my little community unexpectedly.

I make phone calls to my mom and my aunt.  Maily text friends unless we schedule a face time call.

5. Tell us the story behind a favorite piece of furniture.

I don't have a piece of furniture with a story.  I do however have some dishes that belonged to my late hub's grandmother.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

A  couple of weeks ago we had a small tornado touch down!  I was getting ready to go back to school to chaperone a dance and my cousin called and told me to get down to the basement.  I ashed her, "What for?"  I had not been listening to the news, my phone was in the kitchen, and my music was blaring.  She explained to me a tornado was heading my way.  Quickly, I called my mom and told her I was coming after her.  I had just gotten mom into the basement, when it became pitch black, the wind was howling, it was hailing so hard I thought my windows were breaking, when the electricity went off.  I was scared!!!  When it had all settled down, we went back upstairs.  There was so much hail on my porch, it was unbelievable.  My garden was ruined and I was mad until I heard about all the damage that had been done only 2-3 minutes away from me. Then I felt guilty and prayed thanking God for keeping me safe.

A scary time and I never want to experience that again.

Have a great rest of the week and Enjoy Life!
