1. The last place you visited/patronized where you felt like you were given 'the royal treatment'?

I don't think I have ever been given 'royal treatment'.
Image result for royal treatment Maybe one day....

2. The last task you completed that was a 'royal pain'?

Image result for filing taxes

Getting all the paperwork ready for filing taxes!!

3. How have your strengths helped you succeed? How have your faults hindered you?

Image result for keep going

I am one that never quits....keep pushing myself.

My fault is pulling the trigger...I want to do something I have never done before...but just can't pull the trigger.

4. If you found a remote that could rewind, fast forward, stop and start time, what would you do with it?

Image result for use it

Use it!

5. Any special plans for the Memorial Day weekend? Will you in some way honor or recognize the meaning of this day (remembering people who died in service to their country)? Have you ever been to Arlington National Cemetery? Does your town do anything special to mark the day?

I enjoy visiting Arlington National Cemetery...it has always been a humbling experience each time.

My town doesn't do anything for Memorial Day, but a town a few miles away has a parade and flags line the courthouse lawn remembering the fallen heroes.

No plans for Memorial Day.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.

The police is still working on my IG account that was hacked.  Someone must be really bored to hack my account!!

I did get up at 3:30 Saturday...actually woke up at that time (hub sick) and started watching television.  Must say, I enjoyed the wedding ceremony and thought the bride was stunning and her mom so poised...a class act.  Would one day love to visit England.

Wishing all a safe and happy Memorial Day.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond

1. What would you say is your biggest day to day challenge?

Keeping doctor appointments in check.

2. May 16th is National Biographers Day. What's a biography you really enjoyed reading? Is this a genre you read regularly?

I love reading about the Camelot Years....Kennedy's

3. How important is keeping a clean house? Do you need to de-clutter your life?

I try to keep a clean house....usually pick up every day.  I like to give it a good cleaning at least once a week.
I most certainly need to de-clutter my life.

4. You're the 8th dwarf. What's your name?

Why Me?

5. What's surprised you the most about your life or life in general?

Life throws some curve balls....I never dreamed how affected my life has been by cancer.

Life in general.....I must be exciting because someone has hacked my Instagram account....posing as me and has stolen my pics and adding their nasty pics beside of mine.  People can be so cruel!!   I always thought people could be nice and not mess with other people.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Like I mentioned earlier.  Someone has hacked my IG account.....how horrible.  I didn't know about it till someone told me because I rarely use IG!!   This is so frustrating to think someone would do this.  Thankfully I have different passwords for different social medial....but if someone is so bored and smart to hack another person's account THEN  I say PUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS TO BETTER USE.

The Struggle

The Struggle is Real

I love candy....any sweets...

Years ago, I would not buy any candy because I would eat the entire bag...

About three years ago, hub began craving sweets....huh?  Hub very rarely ate sweets...very, very rarely.  I started buying my candy ; no longer felt guilty because hub was also eating the sweets.

Last week, Charlie's oncologist told him to limit his sweet intake....very rarely was he to eat anything with SUGAR....
WHAT???  Everything contains sugar nowadays.  I love apples....loaded with sugar, I love Halo Mandarin oranges loaded with sugar....raisins loaded with sugar, bananas loaded with sugar, and the list seems to go on and on and on.  I began reading labels and looking up foods and was totally shocked seeing how much sugar is in certain foods....foods I never expected.  However, Doritos have very little sugar if any at all...Imagine that!

So the Challenge begins....trying to fix dinner without much sugar...It has already been a challenge fixing lunch and dinner without red meat....a no no for hub too!!

This DARN CANCER (saying it mildly) is stealing now our food joy!!!!  I am so sick and tired of chicken and fish!!!  I feel like I can lay an egg any day!  We have eaten a lot of vegetables...and I MEAN A LOT!  I can't remember the last time I had a big, juicy hamburger...or a hot dog....my mouth waters just thinking about them.  Now....my sugar is being taken away....

I just can't eat the foods hub can't eat in his presence.

The struggle is real!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond
Been with the HP for maybe 5 or 6 years.  Thank you Joyce for coming up with the questions!

Bloggers hop on over and have some fun.

1. April showers bring May flowers or so the saying goes. Is there a flower you associate with a particular memory? Explain.

I think I can associate with a rose more than any other flower.  My mother use to have tons of rose bushes in our yard while I was growing up.  I knew the rose bush would prick my fingers, but I would still grab hold of the stem to smell the roses.  Mom use to get vases upon vases and put roses in them...our house truly smelled like a rose garden.

2. Last time you helped someone? Tell us how.

It has been several months ago...a teacher I knew was diagnosed with brain cancer.  She didn't know she had cancer and was still teaching when all of a sudden BAM!  Her classroom was a mess...she had taught for over 40+ years and had kept EVERYTHING, from I think, the first day she had taught.  Her husband was so overwhelmed.  I cleaned up her room...organized totes....pictures, keepsakes,  yearbooks, and threw MUCH away!

I try to help people everyday--just helping someone with their groceries, holding a door for a woman with a small child, little things are important.

3. It's National Salsa Month (the food, not the dance) so tell us, do you like salsa? Hot, medium, or mild? Homemade, store bought, or from your favorite restaurant only?

The hotter, the better.  I know a very sweet lady who makes homemade salsa and it is to die for!
Don't really have a favorite restaurant's favorite salsa.

4. When I was twelve years old...

I didn't have a care in the world!

5. It's the first of May so let's run with it-first things first, don't know the first thing about it, first dibs on something, first impression, first rate, first cousin, first string, first come first served, at first light-which phrase can best be applied to something in your life currently or even recently?

Don't know the first thing about Fire Stick for my television.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

This past weekend was Prom in my little town.  Seeing the teenagers all 'dolled up'  brought back some memories.  This year, I didn't notice the girls showing a lot of skin....more conservative attire....more ball gown type dresses:)

Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond

1. They say you learn something new every day. What did you learn yesterday?

Yesterday, I learned to keep quiet.  My grandson (hub's son Todd's son) came to the house after school.  I always check his book bag for homework and to make sure he has his lunch bag.  When I opened up his lunch bag....oh my!! the smell was horrible.  I opened up his thermos and there was mold in it!  What??  So I asked Nate (grandson) what on earth was this....Nate, who is in the third grade, explained that his dad and his dad's live in girlfriend had forgotten to pack his lunch and this was left since Friday in his bookbag. He explained that he knew I had put money on his lunch account so he went and bought him a peanut/butter sandwich.  I about blew a gasket!!!  Hub isn't feeling too well....with the chemo and he has an infection too, so I calmly said nothing aloud.  I kept quiet and neither did I say anything to his dad when he pulled up to get Nate.   This was something I learned, that if I had said something, hub would have gotten upset, and if I had mentioned this to his dad, his dad would not let Nate get off the bus at the pharmacy anymore....and we wouldn't see him.
Nate didn't seem to have been upset about his lunch as I was....maybe I shouldn't had been so upset!

2. Have you ever had a now or never moment? Elaborate.

I don't think so.

3.  April 25th is National Telephone Day. Do you still have a land line or have you gone mobile only? When you receive a text message do you respond immediately? Last time you turned your phone off?  In two or three sentences share with us a story/memory/incident from your childhood (or something current if that's too
hard) where the telephone is featured.

Completely mobile here.
If possible, I try to respond to text message immediately...in my opinion (ahem) just shows courtesy.
A childhood memory is being on a party line.  I remember waiting and waiting for someone to get off the line, but then too scared to talk to a significant other because someone might be listening.

4. Close call, at someone's beck and call, call the shots, call a meeting, call it quits, call in sick, call on the carpet, wake up call...which call have you 'heard' recently? Explain.

Close call.....I ran a red light!!  Now for some background....my small town only has one red light,  I have no idea how I didn't get T-boned!  The red light has three lights....one for cars turning left, one for cars going straight, and one for cars going right.  I was going straight but I looked at the light for cars turning left....which was green...cars going straight the light was red.  I went through the red light.  I looked in my back rear mirror and saw the light was red...and gasped.  When pulling onto the carport....after shaking and gathering my wits, I looked up and said...."Thank you God, I know that was you."  Even though I live in a small town, the red light is at the main intersection...I could have easily gotten T-Boned a close call for me!

5. What subject do you wish you'd paid more attention to in school?

Psychology

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Thoughts on Wal-Mart doing your shopping for you.   I went to Wal-Mart Saturday and was asked if I wanted to sign up for my personal shopper.  This person would have my list, shop for me, and all I had to do was drive up and pick up my items....I would never have to leave my car.  I am not a fan of Wal-Mart, but I am that lazy to do my shopping for myself....I like to talk to people and not having to go inside the store....not me...I might run into a long lost colleague.  I knew some people were signing up, but this is not for me.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What's something you wanted to do this summer that you never got around to doing?  I really wanted to give my house a good ole fashio...
