Enjoy Life-Week in Review

Week in Review

This week has been very busy around here.  I have been practicing my nursing skills, teaching, and taking care of grandson.

Daughter #2 is doing well after her second back surgery.  We all decided it was best if she spent a few weeks with us.  She and her husband have two large dogs, and we were concerned the dogs would jump on her (which they do) and daughter's reaction would be to jerk.  The recliner was moved upstairs, and she slept in this for a couple of nights.  Then she has gradually moved to the couch.  Daughter hasn't tried to sleep in a bed yet says she is afraid to roll over on her side and that her bottom half won't go as fast as her top half.  We have taken advantage of our spring like weather and walked around the block in the evenings.  Her husband comes by after work and helps her shower-still no bending or lifting anything over a half-gallon of milk.  Doctor visit this Thursday-prayers that everything is going as planned...  I must tell you that I did get a chuckle on her hospital bracelet--her bracelet read Redo.  When the surgeon came out to speak with us after the surgery, I asked if there was a warranty this time since it was a Redo. She has been taken good care of by me and of course by this little fellow:

I don't know, but sickness has seemed to have hit my community.  It seems the nasty stomach bug has hit!  BIG TIME!  I have taken extra precaution to not be exposed to this due to daughter's surgery.  Strep throat is on the rise...and now the flu has hit.  The flu seems to always hit in December, but this year it is hitting now.  After running into some friends at the store, I didn't realize how sick a lot of people have been.  Every morning I have taken an extra vitamin just in case.  Hub has had this terrible cough that seems to take his breath for a good 30 seconds.  He is on an antibiotic, but when he coughs I go running because it scares me so.

I taught this week for a colleague on a conference...my hands are raw from washing them so much and wiping down the tables with Clorox Wipes.  I think I went through two containers!

Stepson went on his golf trip this weekend, and grandson stayed with us.  Hub and I were a little concerned at first.  Grandson is all boy and loves to jump and wrestle.  We had to tell him he couldn't do this with daughter around.  He was pretty good but of course had to be reminded a few times.

After having temps in the high 70's, I woke up today freezing!  It had been awhile since grandson had spent the night on a Saturday, and I was rushing around burning up trying to get us all ready and taken care of before heading to church.
I did put on a sweater when stepping outside!

I haven't been able to go walking this week in the mornings.  I took this picture the last time I was able to go walking
I love being wide awake before the world gets up. This time of day is beginning to be my favorite.  Hopefully, I can get back in the walking swing this week.

Have a Blessed Week!

Wednesday hodgepodge

1. March is National Women's History Month. In that vein, who are three women who've been influential in your life? How so?

My paternal grandmother-she just taught me to believe in myself, and that life is not always fair. My grandmother taught me to work hard and be persistent.  She had the strongest faith and was one fine Christian woman.
My daughters -they influence me daily. I have seen the obstacles they face, and they strive to overcome.  They are compassionate and hardworking women.  Often they tell me to just 'chill' when my feathers are so ruffled.
Maya Angelou-I just admire her quotes..and try to memorize them.

2. In what ways do you think women have it easier than men?

I can't think of any ways. I know this is out of the ballpark sort of speak, but the only thing I can think of is..finding something good to watch on television!!  Hub always has an easier way with this than me.

3. What do you need most right now: faith, love, hope, or peace?

Faith- I am nervous about daughter's upcoming back surgery..AGAIN!  I know this is another curve ball being thrown.
Hope-Hope that the world we live in would some how wake up and be more better.
Peace-For family situation to work out, and we could all be at peace again.
I could use a little bit of all.

4. Do you have a collection? If so, what do you collect and why?

No collection here.

5. Plaids, checks, polka dots, stripes...your favorite?

Plaids

6. In what ways are you the same as your childhood self?

I like being active...not much of a couch potato, still love to read, and still have a yearning to help others who need it.

7. You're a contestant on the TV game show Jeopardy. What category will you ace?

Song Lyrics...finish the lyrics to this song.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

"If you only have one smile in you give it to the people you love." Maya Angelou
Prayers for daughter...she will be having her second back surgery at 7:30 Friday morning.
Have a Blessed rest of the week.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. February ended with an extra 24 hours in 2016. What did you do with your bonus day?

Nothing out of the ordinary.

2. What's something in your life that's grown by leaps and bounds in recent days, weeks, months, or years? I'm giving you lots of room to come up with an answer here, so no fair passing on this one.

My prayer life.  Let me explain....I am a prayer warrior at my local church, I would pray for people who were on my list twice a day but that was about it.This summer a lady asked if I had ever written my prayers in a prayer journal. I gave it a try. Everyday I have set a time to really pray and write my prayers down.  As life happens, one day I was not able to do this...I felt awful-sick to my stomach and I couldn't wait to get home and write in my prayer journal. It may not seem like much, but to me this is something that has grown tremendously in my life.

3. Do you read reviews about a film before deciding if you'll see it? Did you watch The Oscars this year, and if so your thoughts on the program? How many of the Best Picture nominees had you seen prior to the broadcast? (Spotlight, The Martian, The Big Short, The Revenant, Mad Max: Fury Road, Room, and Brooklyn) If you watched The Oscars who gets your award for 'best dressed'?

I tried to watch the Oscars, but I got so aggravated by the dress of some....I just turned it off.

4. When did you last have overnight houseguests? Give us your top three tips on being a good houseguest.

It has been awhile.  However in April, I might have some overnight guest...RAM-will be coming close to my area and a few doctors may stay with me.
A good houseguest is one that feels comfortable and relaxed, one that doesn't mind to pitch in and help if need to, and just being  polite and having  good manners.

5. March 2nd is Peanut Butter Lover's Day. Will you be celebrating? If so, would you prefer a home made peanut butter cookie, a Reese's peanut butter cup, an old fashioned peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or shall I just hand you a jar and a tablespoon?

Never knew tomorrow is Peanut Butter Lover's Day!  But I will take all 4, please! Lover of peanut butter!

6. Why is failure important? Or isn't it?

I think failure is important.  For one thing, it does build character-learning to deal with disappointments is a part of life and how to bounce right back up.  Failing also teaches one how to succeed-how to put forth that extra work effort to achieve that goal.

7. Share with us one fun thing on your March calendar.

Right now I don't have ONE fun thing on my March calendar.  Hopefully this will change!!  Daughter #2 is going for back surgery AGAIN!  Prayers...She had back surgery in November and now....well here we go AGAIN!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

I have been helping daughter in the pharmacy this week.  Some people are so rude....just be polite and smile-a pharmacist does do more than just count pills!
Trying to get through the book, The Pretender's Lady: A Novel, shew! Not one I would recommend to read.
Watching the debates....my 8th graders didn't act that way!
Prayers for daughter's back surgery, coming up.
Have a Blessed rest of the Week!

Found our this week my eyesight hasn't changed since last year.  Great news for me.  I have been wearing glasses/contacts for many, many years, and with age comes vision problems...so happy news for me.

Attended a Relay for Life meeting.  This is very dear to my hear....so many lives have been touched or turned upside down because of this terrible disease.  I am in charge of the survivor's dinner..so I begin the planning on this soon.  Also talked daughter into putting a team in from our pharmacy.  I know with the economy it is hard to sell items but I am thinking to set up a page for donations.

I went to school for a couple of days this week-substitute teacher that is!  I really don't mind substituting.

Hub and I attended an awards ceremony today recognizing our firemen and EMTs.  Such great work these fine men and women do.  I was unaware of how many hours these men dedicate to our community.
