You are a Blessing

I don't think you gals (my Besties) see how special and awe-inspiring you all are me. So I am here to tell you that.

Women like you all are so rare and precious and for that I feel truly blessed to have you all in my life.

You taught me that you don't always have to be strong.  I am allowed to have a meltdown from time to time.  And that's OK as long as I keep picking myself up.

You inspire me because no matter how many curve balls life threw at you (too many sometimes), you usually found the moments to smile and make others smile. Even in my darkest hour, you helped me.

You all are intelligent and passionate in whatever you do. From going back to school, to antique shopping, to being creative, to being my passenger while I drive; you gals just keep on persisting until you make it or I make it.  And I am lucky!

You all are brave enough to leave your comfort zone and reach for more.  You all don't allow your fears to hold you down.  And you have helped me to do the same. 

Thank-you for listening to my drama over and over.  I know I have repeated myself from time to time.   But ya'll get me somehow.  Ya'll know just the right words to say.  Heck, ya'll sometimes even know me better than I know myself.  Thank-you for bearing with me.  You taught me not everything has to have an answer, especially when it come to dealing with death.  

Ya'll keep reminding me that some people are not worthy of my time and this has made the whole process of moving on and letting go a little bit easier.  Thank-you for soothing my thoughts.  And though  these things are never painless, they've started hurting a bit less.  

Ya'll have touched my life in ways I can't even explain.  I am so blessed to have ya'll in my life.  

These kinds of friendships are rare (over 40 years).  They are something out of this world.  They are something to thank God for and never take for granted.

Life happens, things change, people come and go, relationships end, but Ya'll , My Sisters, and Besties, will always stay by my side for eternity.

X

X-tra Sisters

I don't have any sisters and if I did, I would choose you three gals!!

We met in college many years ago.  I didn't know them, and they didn't know me. It might have taken us a few weeks to get to really know each other.  Which resulted in changing rooms so we could get together or be close to one another and one time we changed dorms completely.  I remember all the fun we had in those days while at college. We all graduated from college and kept in touch ,but life happened.  We began raising our family (which none of us regret) and celebrating life's achievements with them.  

BUT, then we got together again!!

You gals are my SISTERS!!  Friends at this point seems inadequate.  Over the last few years, we have celebrated a wedding, births of our grandchildren, celebrated one going back to college to earn another degree, celebrated one moving, celebrated one building a new house, and probably other things that have slipped my mind.  Oh the trips we have taken together....Hawaii, Asheville, Tybee Island, Savannah, and Georgia.  So much fun we had! The memories we made I will always cherish. We have also supported one another through the deaths of parents, spouses, and a child. I feel so comfortable at your house because we are more like sisters than friends.

I am so grateful to have Ya'll!!  We have laughed till we cried and cried till we laughed. Thank you for making me laugh!!Thank you for tolerating me when I needed to rant or cry or both. Most of all thank ya'll for being YA'LL!  You gals are so much more than a best friend to me, and I am grateful for that.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

 

1. What does the word values mean to you personally? Where did your values come from? What are some of the values that have guided you throughout your life? 

Values means to me something/someone that is important, worthwhile, and loved.  My values came from my dad and my grandmother.  Values that have guided me are kindness (holding my tongue), appreciation/gratitude, and forgiveness (I am a work in progress on this one).

2. Your favorite vanilla flavored something? 

Vanilla bean cupcake!

3. What's something you've seen/done recently that you found to be very difficult, very confusing, very helpful, very interesting, or very special. Elaborate. 

Very difficult....paperwork for the end of school

Very confusing...paperwork for the end of school (why so many duplicates)

Very interesting...watching my grandson play soccer...it seems more like kickball to me

Very helpful...these young co-workers that help me correct my computer mistakes OH so helpful

4. Something you own and love that is violet in color? 

The only thing that I have is violet is a kimono that I wear occasionally

5. Do you have vacation plans on the calendar this summer? Tell us more. 

Trying to make some but at this time, I don't know if the plans will happen or not.

Going from 80 to 30 degrees isn't funny!!! 

I had a little boy tell me Sunday in church that he played little league baseball.  I said I would come one evening and watch.  His mom sent me a schedule Monday night.  Last night I went to watch him play and the grin on his face was priceless.  I was tired because I had been at school from 7:45 to 5:30 and I was hungry because of a situation I was dealing with earlier and had not had lunch, BUT I rushed to his game (which started at 6) and seeing his big grin melted my heart.

Vivacious

Why did I chose this word to describe my friends?  Because:

1. They behave in an enthusiastic, cheerful way.  Definitely full of life.  One just needs to be around them for a few hours to see this and feel the enthusiasm they have for life.

2.They are  Exciting there is never a dull moment when I am with my besties!  From changing seats on a plane (without permission) to swinging on a pole in an airport (either swing on the pole or miss the tram) so much excitement they bring to situations.  

3. They are attractive.  They are beautiful and charming.

I also had to look up this word!!

A- Z Challenge...the letter 'W'

 

W

Warm-hearted

I have never seen any jealousy or insecurity in my friends. AND very rarely are they angry.  Yes, they may get upset or discouraged with their spouse (a little ranting) but never angry to the point I consider angry. I think because they are so warm-hearted little things that annoy me just melt away with them.

They have honest concern for me as well as for others. They are able to put themselves in my shoes (mostly) and understand the challenges and fears I have.  When my oldest daughter was having her 3rd open heart surgery, my late hub was going through cancer treatments, and my youngest daughter was 6 months pregnant, they were planning to come to UVA to be with me.  Little did I know they would be driving over 8 hours just to sit with me.  I found out later through a phone call, they were unable to come due to one of their mothers being taken to the hospital.  Even though they didn't make the trip, just the thought of them planning to come warmed my heart. My friends have so much compassion.

I personally spend to much time agonizing over the little,petty things in life that really don't matter in the long scheme of life.  My friends do not.  Living in a world that has been painful with all that has been happening, warm-hearted people is gratefully appreciated.

A- Z Challenge...the letter 'U'

 

U

Unwind

My friends know how to unwind.  Me?  Nope!  

On our many girl trips, they see me so uptight and fidgety.  I have a hard time sitting still and doing nothing.  They care about me and offer me some suggestions to help me unwind.

Here they are and my response:

1. Find a hobby--I really don't have a hobby then they say, we will help you find a hobby.

2. Read-I do read a lot mostly in the summer, so they have supplied me with many books they think I will enjoy.

3. Take a long bath--I don't feel clean when I take a bath then they suggest well afterwards rinse off in the shower

4. Oh the many breathing exercises- I do in their presence but when home I forgot to 

5.Go for a walk--Yes, now I do this and exercise

Do they criticize me?  No!  I know they have my best interest in mind and care deeply for me.  I tell them I wish I could be more like them in this area.  And some days I really try, but I am just not wired this way.

Trustworthy

My friends are trustworthy.  I can tell them my darkest secrets, which I have, and I honestly know they will go to their grave with what I have told them.  Better yet, they have seen me do some pretty stupid stuff and I know they will never tell or post it all over Facebook!!  A few funny stuff has happened on our girl trips.

Trustworthy also means they won't take advantage of my generosity.  I am a generous person and I know they don't take advantage of my soft heart.  I wholeheartedly trust them and I sincerely appreciate their trustworthiness.

 Being trustworthy is vital in my relationship with my besties!!
