Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What are two or three expectations you have of yourself?

2. In what way does your outdoor space need sprucing up this spring?

Hub and I have decided to remove some plants and replace with small pebbles and put in a couple of benches.  We went this weekend looking for ideas.

3. According to this site (Roadtrippers), six of North America's most wondrous waterfalls are-Webster's Falls in OntarioUpper Whitewater Falls in North Carolina,Havasu Falls in the Grand CanyonMultnomah Falls in OregonThe Lower Yellowstone Falls, and Niagara.  Have you seen any on the list? Which one on the list would you most like to visit? Prettiest waterfall not on the list that you've seen in person?

I have not seen any of these but would like to see the Niagara Falls.

4. Looking back, what's something you wish you'd done as a teenager?

I wish I had written down some of the stories my Mamaw told me.  Sometimes, something will trigger a memory related to a story my mamaw told me and I can't remember it all.  Wishing I had written them down, especially the ones related to life's lessons.

5. Ham...yes please or no thank you? If you said yes please which of the following do you like best-baked ham with all the trimmings, a ham and cheese sandwich, prosciutto with melon, a ham biscuit, a bowl of split pea and ham soup, or a slice of pizza topped with ham and pineapple?

Oh, yes Ham!  I love baked ham with all the trimmings.  But I wouldn't pass anything by with any type of ham.

6. Are you typical of your generation? How so?

Yes and No
Yes because I do realize I am getting older, believe in having good manners, and trying to help others.
No because I do still have so much I want to do--even though I hear people say...well, you might be a little too old to begin a new project-who would have thought we would be in our mid-50s and begin a new business from the ground up.  Hub is also thinking of starting something else....let you know when or if this happens.

7. April rolls in at the end of the week, and in keeping with that theme...'act the fool', 'nobody's fool' 'a fool's errand', 'could have fooled me'...which foolish idiom most recently applies to you?

'Nobody fool' is me.  I am not easily deceived.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Relay for Life..daughter decided to put a team in this great cause.  She has trouble getting to the meetings because of her work schedule..so I am the team leader.  If anyone would like to donate to this great cause (our team hehe) go to Smyth County Relay for Life...our team is Pharmin' For a Cure Help us stomp out his terrible disease.

Easter Happenings

Image result for Easter

Hope all had a wonderful Easter!

On Thursday, daughter had a check up with surgeon.  Everything is going as planned!  Great News!  She finally slept in a bed on Saturday night for the first time...so progress is being made.

A few of my favorite little boys spent Thursday afternoon with me.  We enjoyed some Wii time and baseball time.  It was a beautiful afternoon.

What is a baseball game without sunflower seeds?

A little break in the action....

I enjoyed the afternoon...just playing.

Spent most of the morning on Saturday preparing Easter dinner and Easter baskets. I usually get the boys a book for Easter, and this year was no different.

Later that afternoon, hub and I visited the cemeteries of my dad and his parents.

Easter service at church was so touching.  Easter is HOPE in a world where there is so much pain.  After church, our dinner table was not as large as it has been.  Oldest daughter went to eat with boyfriend's parents.  Youngest daughter and her hub ate with us.

Hub's son did not bring the boys down to get their Easter baskets.  Hub's son is living with a woman who has been in prison, gave up two of her children, a stalker,  and just a person we are not fond of.  We try to turn the other way..and we have gone out of our way because of the boys...but we do not allow step-son's lady friend in our house. Shew!  a lot going on here...and a lot of worry. My prayer is that step-son will eventually turn his life around...hub says when one is 38 (almost 39) he feels that it is a lost cause.

Later that evening, hub and I attended an Easter play.  I didn't want to sit around the house and just mope around...A good choice on my part.  The Easter play was very moving...and a couple of times I wiped the tears from my eyes.  Hub and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Just finished my morning walk....it felt so good to be walking again.  Now time to get some things tidied up around here.

Have a Blessed Week.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Has spring sprung in your little corner of the world? Other than the calendar how would I know? What's your favorite thing about spring?

Last week would have definitely been..let's skip spring and hit summer!  The temps were in the high 70's and the nights were in the 60's.  It turned cooler on Saturday, and we had snow showers on Sunday.  This week the temps are rising...around 60ish now.
Some tulips are coming up!
This year the pollen is awful.  I tried wearing my contacts yesterday-No Way...my eyes were so watery and I just wanted to scratch them all day.  Pollen and spring not a good combination.

2. Besides the weather, what's put a spring in your step recently?

Spending more time with this little guy.

Also, after my morning walk (which I have been unable to do for a couple of weeks) looking at God's creation so early in the mornings...puts a spring in my step.

3. How does Easter impact you?

Easter gives me Hope in this world when there is so much pain and suffering.

4. I saw this somewhere on Facebook and thought it would make a fun Hodgepodge question. Which of the following would you find most disappointing...

a just stuffed taco shell breaking open and spilling out before you take the first bite? dropping a just-purchased Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts coffee? opening the peanut butter jar and finding it empty? upending onto the sidewalk a just-purchased ice cream cone? a burnt bagel popping up in your toaster when you're rushing breakfast? or cutting into an avocado and finding out it's rotten?

I crumble my taco up...so this wouldn't happen

This wouldn't bother me much

I am not a fan of ice cream (I know, hub just shakes his head)

I usually grab a piece of fruit as I am heading out the door...no problem

No problem here

Now, this would be a problem...causing me to pop a few headache pills!!  LOL

5. What's something held together with tape at your house? Or a paper clip? Or a wing and a prayer?

I have a picture frame held together with tape.
My calendar is held together with a paper clip.
Everyday is held together with prayer.

6. Do you feel underappreciated? In what way?

Depends on my day...when having a bad day and trying to get everything done.  then I feel like no one cares what all I do.  Thankfully, I don't feel this way very often.

7. What's something you'd build if you knew how?

Drawing a blank....guess I am not a builder.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Enjoy your Easter.
