Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Give us three rhyming words that say something about your Thanksgiving holiday (or your most recent holiday gathering if you didn't celebrate Thanksgiving).

Share, prayer, bear

Delivered food we share
Said a prayer
And then we ate like a bear

2. When did you last say, 'the more the merrier'? Did you mean it?

Sure I have said this phrase...can't remember when...but most definitely meant it.

3. What's one piece of advice you'd give someone who is your same age?

We have lived half a century, so go out and enjoy each day!

4. You're ordering a veggie plate, what four veggies are on it?

Absolutely love veggies.....
Peppers-green, red, Jalapeno
Corn-preferably corn salad
Sweet Potato
Zucchini-preferably cooked zucchini with onions

5. Shop til you drop! Did you? Have you ever? Will you between now and Christmas?

I did not shop till I dropped, but I shopped.  On Friday (yes, Black Friday), my aunt, aunt's daughter, and I went shopping.  We were not looking for anything specific, but we just wanted to get out of the house and go somewhere.  We did some shopping, ate, did some more shopping, laughed, and just enjoyed the day.
Next year we are planning on making our own shirts to wear....still thinking on a catchy phrase. My hub says BFF (Black Friday Fools) ha!

6. What's your favorite chair in your house, and why is it a favorite?

The recliner in the den.  I love to sit and watch television in the recliner, also my love seat in the sun room has a great view of the mountains.

7. Share an early memory of faith, religion, or spirituality.

I loved seeing the candles lit for Advent...the excitement and anticipation of Christmas coming. The church I attend now did not light the candles until this past Sunday.  When the preacher began talking about Advent, my mind automatically went to the the little church I grew up in and remembering the candles being lit.  After the church service was over, I told hub on the way home, I remembered this as a little girl...even the exact spot where the candles were in my little church.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

For the past 14 or 15 years, we have delivered food on Thanksgiving to people less fortunate than we.  The day begins around 7:00 that morning preparing food to take to the church-may begin earlier for some....but I sign up for the 'easy' stuff.  Around 10:00 we begin the process of collecting the food and packing the trays in our vehicle.  This year was different-youngest daughter had to work and was unable to attend..:(    Families who participate are giving names and addresses of where to go in our county.  Hub and I delivered to 15 families....some families have 5-6 meals and some only 1 meal. Each meal consists of two trays--a hot tray-turkey, gravy, stuffing, ham, mashed   potatoes, green beans, corn, sweet potato casserole, and slaw---a cold tray-desserts-a slice of pumpkin pie, a slice of apple pie, and a slice of a piece of cake (chocolate, red velvet, carrot cake, and carmael cake).  This is a huge undertaking....members of our church sign up and volunteer. After all food is delivered, people who delivered are asked to return to back  the church-to make sure all delivery was okay.  If you want to, one may stay and eat.  We have always stayed and eaten and helped with the cleaning up.
Later that evening, I decorate the tree and put out a few Christmas decorations.  In the past, I have ordered a meal from Cracker Barrel and hub goes and gets BUT this year I did not.  No one was home but hub and I so...after decorating the tree I went with my aunt's daughter shopping!  I just couldn't stand sitting at home with just hub and I-the house was TOO Quiet!
Food being loaded in vehicle.

A little decorating.

Just tid bits

Just some tid bits......

We (hub, oldest daughter and I) spent our Thanksgiving delivery food to those less fortunate than we.  This has been our Thanksgiving for many, many years.  Youngest daughter was unable to be with us because of work, but as she says Mom people still need me on Thanksgiving....

The weather cooperated this year.  Some chill in the air but heck it is November, right?
The trunk of our van was loaded....H stands for the hot meal and C stands for cold...as in desserts.  We delivered for around two hours.

After delivering the food, hub and I ate at the church....great fellowship.

We had to stop by and see this 'little fellow'.

This is oldest daughter's little Molly.

I did manage to put up some Christmas decorations.

My favorite tree.

Have a Blessed Week.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Wishing all a Happy Thanksgiving

1. What's something you might say runs in your family?

Being on time...punctuality!  I taught my girls right on this one.  If there is one thing that is a pet peeve of mine is being late.  Now I know sometimes things happen but not all the time.

2. I read here a list of ten things you should do before 2017 arrives (in less than six weeks!)...which tasks on the list might you do? What would you add to your own 'before the year ends' list?

visit your Dr. or dentist, deep clean your home, donate unwanted items to charity, look someone in the eye and tell them you love them, write an honest letter to yourself, clean up your inbox-desktop-photos, travel to a place you haven't been, compliment a stranger, watch the sunrise, think ahead to your goals/plans for the new year

I have been to the doctor for my yearly check-up, been to the dentist for six month check-up, always look hub and family in the eye and tell them I love them, watch the sunrise (early bird), clean up my inbox, donated items to charity, complimented a stranger (in grocery store) and visited a place I haven't been before.
I haven't done deep cleaning, but I don't want to do that.  I am afraid to write an honest letter to myself! ha  I guess I should think about my goals and plans for the new year or better yet talk hub into traveling to a place he has never been before and I can tag along.

3. What's something other generations (not your own) misunderstand about yourgeneration?

We need more time to figure out and process the new technology....at least I do.

4. Sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, cornbread dressing-which would you miss the most if it weren't on the holiday dinner menu?

Sweet potato casserole.

5. What are you overthinking right now?

Right now....absolutely nothing!

6. Your favorite slang word lately?

Let it go

7. Write an acrostic for the word grateful.
Good
Relatives
Are
Thankful
Everyday
For
Undying
Love

8. Random thoughts

This will be a 'first' Thanksgiving for us and by 'first' I mean family is going separate ways....I know I need to learn to share...and it will come gradually.

Happy Wednesday Hodgepodge

Put on your happy face.....

1. Let's all think happy thoughts...share one of yours here.

Oh, I can't just go with one!
The birth of my children, hearing my oldest daughter laugh after her second open heart surgery, watching my daughters graduate from high school, watching my youngest daughter play in the state finals, watching both graduate from college, my youngest daughter's wedding, spending time with my grandchildren....I could go on and on and on.

2. There's a Chinese proverb that says, "If you want happiness for an hour take a nap, if you want happiness for a day-go fishing...." What say you? If you want happiness for a day _____________.

I  wake up thanking God for another day and I know God is going to do amazing things today  so I thank him for the amazing things he has in store for me today.

3. Where do you go to decompress from the world around you?

To decompress I take a walk. When the weather is warm, I walk around our walking trail in our local town park.  When the weather is cold, I walk around our gym inside my church.
There are days when I just can't make myself walk...so to decompress I cuddle up with a good book in my den or sunroom.

4. What song never fails to make you happy?

Happy by Pharrell Williams

5. Wednesday is National Fast Food Day. Should that be a thing? Apparently it is, so tell us what's the last 'fast food' you consumed? If you were putting together your own version of a 'happy meal' what would you include?

Watery eyes and stopped up nose.....

Image result for rain drop

I usually don't rant on my blog....but right now I am miserable.

Fires are raging out of control....and rain...well, I can't remember the last time it rained.
Stepping outside...is like stepping in a fog machine.....
My eyes are watery, my nose is burning, my nose is stopped up...and I can hardly breathe.
I cannot bare to step outside...I smell smoke, the air is so hazy.
We are in much need of rain.
Even though I am miserable, I cannot imagine what the fire fighters are going through. My prayers are with them.
Oh, rain how I miss you....come soon.
