Super Questions for the Wednesday Hodgepodge

Greetings from the frozen tundra, aka, New Jersey. Here are the questions for this week's Hodgepodge...see you back here tomorrow (Wednesday) to link up our answers. Don't forget to add the button code to your blog or a link to my Wednesday post so your readers can join in the fun too.

1. Will you watch the Super Bowl? If so who will you root for? If you are outside the USA what is the 'big deal sporting event' in your own country?

I will watch the Super Bowl-especially the half-time show! Who will I root for? Hmmm--let's see-my daughter and husband are Green Bay Packer fans-(not so much now-with Brett Favre no longer playing). My daughter has a cheesehead which I know she will have on. I have been a Steelers fan, but don't really care for their quarterback anymore. So I really don't know who I would want to win--let's just say I can't wait to watch the half-time show!!!!!!

2. Is ignorance bliss?

I once had a doctor tell me that ignorace is bliss-maybe because I was asking too many questions! Honestly the more I know about something, the better I feel. Even though I can never be prepared for all that happens to me, I can at least be educated about it.

3. Which of the seven dwarfs are you? (and just in case your Disney is a little bit rusty, here they are-Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy)
I would have to be Happy although being back in school has caused me to be Sneezy(hehe). Trying to look for a light at the end of a tunnel or to look on the bright side is

4. When you are riding in the car with another couple how do you organize the seating? (Men up front? Women up front? Couples sit together?) And thanks to Lori at Mountain Woman at Heart for the question! Everyone go say hi to Lori.
This depends on how well my husband and I know the couple. If we are very close friends, the men ride in the front and the women in the back. However iff we are just acquaintances, my husband and I ride in the back together.

5. What is beauty?
Let's face it--as I get older I buy beauty products to enhance my youth!!! LOL right??? Beauty to me is what is on the inside of a person. A person's warmth, personality, intelligence, etc. matters most and not just a person's physical beauty.

6. If someone asks you to bring an appetizer or a dessert to a party in their home, which would you choose?
It really doesn't matter as long as I can BUY it!!!!!

7. What is your crowd pleasing go-to appetizer?
Chesse-tray

8. Insert your own random thought
I feel like I also live in the Tundra--BUT spring will COME!!!

Enjoy Life--Wednesday's Hodgpodge

1. Do you like your name? Were you named after someone? If you have children how did you settle on their names? I like my name-Tamara Lena--I was named after my great-grandmother 'Lena'. With my first daughter--Amanda Christine--I chose the name Amanda (I just liked that name-no particular reason) and my husband chose Christine-after a TV show he liked. My second daughter Dorothy Sarah Emaline--yep three names-has a different story. My oldest daughter, Amanda, was born with a heart defect. She has had two open-heart surgeries-healthy now and is in pharmacy school!!! Anyway-her cardiologist was a very special person to us-her name was Dorothy (that's where her fist name came from) second name-Sarah is after my grandmother who was very special to me and third name-Emaline was after my husband's grandmother--However---we call her Emily--or sometimes Em.

2. How do you define success?
Success is an emotion you feel after completing a project-a moment that is hard to capture. It is also a feeling of termination (good termination feeling).
Success does come with hard work and determination. As the saying goes-if at first you don't succeed try, try again.

3. Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy?
I enjoy Wheel of Fortune--I think it is the puzzles and a kinda of gambling feeling. I do get very frustrated with contestants when the puzzle is obvious, but the contestants don't see it.

4. If you could own any single object that you don't have now, what would it be?
Hmmm... I honestly can't think of anything I want that I don't have. Is this saying I have too much???? or maybe I am content with what I have. I prefer the later.

5. What is something that inspires you?
The Bible--this is a book I go to for inspiration. A person that inspires me is a person who is kind, compassionate, and always thinks of others before they think of theirself.

6. Meatloaf--yay or nay
Nay on the meatloaf. One day I will share my meatloaf story (what a story to tell)!! My daughters love to tell the meatloaf story on their mom. As a matter of fact, my oldest daughter wrote an essay about it while still in school. Let's just say I am well known for this story and not the cook of the house!!!

7. Which is more admirable-the ability to organize and be methodical or the ability to adapt and make do?
The abiltiy to adapt and make do is more admirable. Yep we all plan, but when the plan does not go like we wish-we must adapt and make do-make the best of a situation. This ability requires creative thinking and spur of the moments decisions.

8. Random thoughts: Boy is it hard getting back into the routine of school!!! I feel like my body and mind is in overdrive!!!!! My students feel the same.

A word I would banish from everyday vocabulary would be the word ain't. I guess this word bothers me so because I am a teacher-"Mrs. Doane I ain't got my homework, Mrs. Doane I ain't got no pencil, Mrs. Doane I ain't, I ain't ........ Whew!!! But what really throws me for a loop is the word 'ain't' in the dictionary!!!! Come on-'ain't is it a contraction-if so-what two words does it make??

Opportunity is something you create. If there is something you want, work hard to achieve it. However, if opportunity comes knocking at your door-take it.

OMG--eating healthy-since we have missed 13 days of school, all I do is eat-candy, candy bars, muffins, cookies, anything and anytime. I don't know if I can get into my school clothes now!!! But I do like salads with everything and I mean EVERYTHING and my favorite dressing is ginger.

I don't have time to really get the 'blues.' I have a youngest daughter who plays college basketball so I really try to go to her games and support her (at least I get to see her). I also have a step-grandson who is 2-Yep the terrible 2 stage, but I enjoy being with him and he keeps me on my toes.

I always have to wear a watch-again is this a teacher thing?

High school didn't prepare me for life-maybe because I went to a small high school. Something I try to prepare my students for is----always be kind to others. There is a program we have at school called Rachel's Challenge-that is related to kindness. If society would be kind to one another ,what a world we would live in. I also tell my daughters to be kind-no matter what-and there are sometimes when you have to bite your tongue!!

I use an accountant for tax purposes. I don't know what I would do without him.

Random thoughts--enjoy the snow and the cold. Before we know it, it will be 90 and wishing for some cool air!!!

1. Three words to describe 2010---panicky, mountainous, and lackadaisical.

2. I have no idea what I would like to try if I wasn't afraid. Sometimes I think skydiving--but really don't know.

3. I add nothing to coffee or tea--I prefer strong drinks.

4. A historical sporting event--Ice Skating at the Olympics. Then again since my daughter plays college basketball, I must also admit I would love to see a championship game in this sport.

5. Advice to myself--Do not take people in your life for granted. Spend quality time with your parents and grandparents. Stay young (quit wishing to be older) as long as you can. Don't grow up too fast. Enjoy the moment.

6. I am a planner--right down to the second!!!! I absolutely become nervous when I have to fly by the seat of my pants. Maybe being a school teacher has something to do with this---constantly on a scheduled--even a pee schedule!!!

7. My husband has promised to take me to New York. Now he doesn't or should I say despise to travel. I have always wanted to go to New York, so I hope I get the chance in 2011.
