wednesday hodgepodge

1.  Speaking of skating...when did you last 'skate on thin ice', 'skate over the details', 'encounter a cheapskate', or just plain skate?

This past weekend....I had a huge case of foot/mouth disease--open mouth and insert foot. I didn't mean to say what I was thinking...it just came out. To not remember this I am going to 'skate over the details' only to say I regret what I said.

2. What would you say is the biggest problem of people your age?

Most people my age, IN MY OPINION, feel like they are too old to be doing fun things.   I still enjoy having little get togethers, talking walks, going to concerts- just doing something.  I have tried inviting people (my own age) to do some things with me, and they say they are too tired or they are too old to do those things anymore--(it could be that I am just a bore!)  I think there is more to life than just putting your PJ's on and watching television.

3. What's your favorite accessory? Is it something you wear every day, often, or only on special occasions?.

Can't say I have a favorite accessory.  I can say... I love jewelry...and I don't leave home without my jewelry on.

4. January 20th is National Cheese Lover's Day. Are you a lover of cheese? What's your favorite dish made with cheese? Last thing you ate that contained some kind of cheese?

I am not a lover of cheese...hub says I am unAmerican...I don't have a favorite cheese dish.  Pizza was the last thing I ate that contained some cheese.

5. What's something guaranteed to make you roll your eyes?

People trying to pretend to be someone they aren't!  and seeing children misbehave and parents allowing the misbehavior.

6. Your favorite book series?

Haven't read many books in a series.  I have read the "Hunger Games" and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest"  must say I didn't really care for the latter ones.

7. Why did you choose your profession?

I love children and young adults.  Seeing someone when he/she really understands a concept you are trying to teach...really seeing the gleam in his/her eyes...being able to go to work everyday and really not knowing what is going to happen, the love of learning.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

According to the weather reports, we are supposed to be getting some significant snow coming our way.  I must wait and see..
Sadden by the news of Glen Frey.  I remember taking hubs to an Eagle concert in Knoxville while I was in college.  I love their music.

  1. I love to do fun things; however, I have to schedule them because after a 10 hour work day at school, I really just want to put on the PJ's and go to bed! Summer is my fun time since I am more relaxed and don't have to count every second of my day. I don't think I am too old, just too tired. I did just host a "Voice Watching Party" since a girl from our town was in the top 10. Next month, I am hosting a "Daytona 500" party. Come on over! Have a super, awesome week!!

  3. I guess you're lucky you don't like cheese. It has a lot of calories. I wonder if I could develop a dislike for it. I think I'd have to move out of state first. (Wisconsin) :-)

  4. The news says we may see some flakes this afternoon. So happy I went to the grocery store yesterday because even flurries here produce some crazy drivers! I saw the Eagles in college...did you go to the concert in Knoxville? Hubs and I saw them just a couple years ago at Madison Square Garden and they were still awesome.

  6. Could not agree more with your answers to #'s 2 and 5. I will never understand parents who think their misbehaving children would be considered adorable by anyone else. Don't you live in Texas? I didn't hear about the possible snow. Hopefully it will move just a little east too and get us in the ArkLaTex.

  7. One of my pet peeves is misbehaving children. I have trouble getting my "older" friends to do fun things sometimes too. Recently we had two extra hockey tickets and no one wanted to go because it was so cold! Have a great week!

  8. I read the first "The Girl With..." book, and then watched all 3 movies. They were soooo dark.
Hope you're staying warm! We're out again tomorrow!

  9. Nice to find another jewelryholic ;) and I agree with your #2. I'm also sitting here in my jammies most evenings, but I don't have anyone that will go out with me either...plus there is not much to do around here when you don't have much money to spend.

  10. My husband and I this morning were just talking about how we have to have a plan to be active and have fun when he retires. I never leave the house without my watch and ring. Of course I don't leave the house very often!!! We are very saddened by his death also. Stay safe and warm.
