Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond

1. Last time you moved house? Something you've learned in moving house?
How to Manage These 4 Common Moving Day Mistakes
In 2016, hub and I switched houses with our oldest daughter.  My oldest daughter, Amanda, was a pharmacist and she had purchased a house in 2014.  The house she purchased was about 10 minutes from where hub and I lived but the house she purchased did not have a garage only a carport.  One evening after locking up the pharmacy (hub was always with her especially when locking and closing the pharmacy), a car with an out of state license plate followed her home.  A few weeks later, this same car parked close by the pharmacy and again followed her with hub close by.  That did it for hub!!  The next day we switched houses....literally.  Amanda needed a house with a garage that she could pull into and go straight into the house.

Hub and I have moved 9 times in our short years of marriage (1981-2018).  I learned that no matter how many times I throw stuff away and declutter, I still accumulate too much stuff that is useless!

2. Move mountains, move along, make a wrong move, moved to tears, get a move on, move up, move over, move out of the way, move the deck chairs on the Titanic, move it!...pick one and tell us how it fits your recent circumstances.

Move out of the way.  Every evening, I go to the cemetery to visit my daughter.  Her grave is located on the top of a hill and there are a few houses located close by.  While visiting her grave one evening, I felt like someone was staring at me.  Someone was!  A deer!  I quickly moved out of the way.

3. What have you been doing to make yourself move (aka stay fit-active) during these strange times?
Fun Workout Trend: Pound | NewBeauty Body - YouTube

I am still going to my Pound exercise class on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

4. This week's calendar includes celebrations for the following foods-

National Coffee Milkshake Day (Sunday), National Creme Brûlée Day (Monday), National Milk Chocolate Day (Tuesday), National Chicken Wing Day (Wednesday), National Lasagne Day (Wednesday), National Cheesecake Day (Thursday), and National Avocado Day (Friday)

Which one on the list would you be most inclined to celebrate? Which would you be most inclined to skip?
Avocado 101 | Everything You Need To Know « Clean & Delicious
I have gotten hung up on avocados.
Perfect Coffee Milkshake | Marsha's Baking Addiction
I would have a hard time skipping any of these but if I had to choose would be the coffee milkshake. I am not too fond of the different types of coffee...just a plain ole black coffee woman.

5. Next week's Hodgepodge lands in August! I know!! Raise your hand if you feel like July flew by in the blink of an eye? Now bid farewell to your July acrostic style. If you don't know what that means click here.

Residential Heat Pumps | Compare High Quality Heat Pumps | Trane®
The beginning of June my heat pump quit working.  I had a hole in one of the lines and it was working again before the first round of the heat wave began. A few weeks after my heat pump went on the blink, my aunt's heat pump tore up.  Then last week my son-in-law's heat pump stopped working and then this week my mom's heat pump quit working!! AND the temps have been in the high 90s!  My son-in-law installed a window unit until his heat pump is fixed and my mom is staying with me until hers is repaired.
We all have the same brand...Trane
What is going on this summer???

  1. That's crazy with the heat pumps but sounds like something typical in 2020. This has been the strangest year ever! Hope all gets fixed soon. Have a great day :)

  3. We have only had one heat pump and got rid of it ASAP when I realized there would never be warm air coming from it. Hope you get them all fixed soon. This heat and humidity is unbearable without AC.

  4. I'm sorry for you a.c. woes. I guess chalk it up to 2020. I picture you sitting by Amanda's grave and my heart just breaks for you. I pray you find a measure of comfort there and in your treasured memories.

  5. The graphic you posted with the moving boxes -- perfect!

Your reason to move into your current home was the most interesting I have ever heard. I hope/assume the problem ended after that.
