1. February 17th is National Random Acts of Kindness Day. It lands on the calendar one day after National Do Something for a Grouch Day (February 16) which somehow feels related. Perhaps the 16th inspired the 17th?
Tell about a time you performed a random act of kindness or were the recipient of one. Will you make an effort to perform a random act of kindness on the 17th? Share details if you're so inclined, and if you have something specific in mind.
I try to be kind everyday... letting others in front of me while in a grocery line, helping a person load a car with groceries, shoveling out my neighbors driveway, calling and checking on a sick child, giving to someone standing on a corner holding a sign, telling someone how nice she looks...
I haven't given it much thought on performing an act of kindness for tomorrow...I am supposed to sub (if the weather holds out) so who knows...maybe a note to the teacher telling her how I appreciate all she does for the students in this county.
2.What's the most uplifting or encouraging thing you see happening in the world right now? You may have to dig deep for this one.
There is still some encouraging sports people. Just watching some famous athletes take the time to visit a sick child in a hospital gives me hope in athletes.
3. Black olives, black currants, black grapes, black beans, blackberries, Oreos...your favorite food the color of night? Your least favorite on the list?
This is an easy one... Oreos is my favorite hands down.
Least favorite black olives-have to remind husband no black olives on my pizza!
4. A while back I read (here) a list of twelve things you should do before you turn 50. They were-
travel when you have the chance, take care of your skin, learn a foreign language, make exercise a habit, leave a toxic situation, stop caring what others think about you, stop worrying, volunteer, spend time with your grandparents, pledge to work less, learn to cook an amazing dish, and seize an opportunity as it arises
What do you think of the list? What would you add or remove and why? If you're over 50, have you done all 12? If you're not yet 50, have you done any at all? What's on the list that you haven't done, but would like to do?
I don't mind traveling....spur of the moment traveling doesn't bother me now--back in the day I had to be prepared but now shucks, I can pack in less than 5 minutes and be ready to hit the road,
I do take care of my skin more now that I am older and I always use
besides trying to get that suntanned look
I try to exercise daily-some days more than others-love going to my Zumba class (although haven't been in 2 weeks-this darn snow) and hub and I walk early in the morning (again...when the snow isn't causing an issue)
I do find myself volunteering more with age--but I need to be more selective sometimes.
I don't know if I could ever stop worrying....
Sometimes I don't care what people think-this is only if I am in a crazy mood...I might break out and do a Zumba move!
I have no interest in learning a foreign language...although I might need to. As for me learning to cool an amazing dish....oh please save us would be my family's response.
Seizing an opportunity...well let's just say, my hub needs to grab my arm and convince me.
Being on the downside of 50, I think I have changed from my younger years.
5. Besides the classic Christmas flicks, what's your favorite film where winter plays a part in the setting?
The only one I can think of us "Love Story" and "Dumb and Dumber"
6.When did you last feel helpless, and what did you do about it?
When I can't control a situation that I know is sooo wrong. Praying for the person to wake up and see how wrong his lifestyle is.
7. Share a favorite proverb.
Work as if everything depends on me, but pray as if everything depends on God.
A good reputation is a fair estate.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Came across this song....
What a beautiful voice and song! Great way to start my day.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the video! I pray, too, whenever I feel helpless about something and remind myself that God IS in control.
ReplyDeleteAww, Love Story...I still rank that as one of the saddest movies ever made. It's hard to see someone going off the rails in their life. So thankful we can pray about these things and have a God who hears and cares. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteLately, I've seen Ali MacGraw everywhere. I really must watch that movie.
ReplyDeleteAmen to no black olives on your pizza - yuk!
Have a great rest of your week.
Good for you on the exercise. I haven't had a routine that I follow and I need too before it is too late. I do take care of my skin too. I like black olives but not on pizza.
ReplyDeletereally enjoyed this post.
ReplyDeleteI used to love Oreos but everything else on that list got a thumbs down from me. LOL
