Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond

1. What's your favorite room in your house and why?

It would have to be my sunroom.  I love to sit and read in the sunroom on cool days.  In the winter, I usually sit in the sunroom, and watch it snow.  The sunroom gets hot in the summer, but that is when I spend my time sitting on my porch.

2. What's something that will instantly annoy you?

Rude customers in a store yelling at their child or spouse.
Here lately, it is drivers riding my tail on the interstate.  I have my cruise on 75 and they are still riding my tail.  So many times I have to fight the urge to not step on the brakes.

3. May 28th is National Hamburger Day...will you celebrate? How do you like yours? If you're not cooking at home is there a favorite place you like to go for a burger? Did you ever work in a fast food  restaurant?

No, I will not celebrate.  This is my last teacher workday before summer break.  I like my hamburger well-done.  My favorite place to grab a burger would be the Dip Dog Stand.  This is famous for dip dogs, but I prefer their hamburgers.

I have never worked in a fast food restaurant.

4. What are three scents you like?

Citrus especially lemon, Cinnamon, and Pumpkin spice.

5. What do you miss most about being a kid?

Not having a care in the world!!  AND enjoying the simple things.

I kept all three grandkids Saturday evening and night.  The boys were digging for worms and hearing the shriek of joy everytime they found one was magical.  They even build a house for the worms!!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Thursday was their last T-Ball game.  They played under the lights because the game didn't start till 8pm and boy was it COLD!!

This little guy played his last game Monday.

Have a great rest of the week and Enjoy Life!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond

1. May 20th is World Bee Day...what's something that's kept you 'busy as a bee' lately?

T-Ball and Baseball.  The twins play T-Ball and play on Thursdays and Saturdays.  Blake plays Coach Pitch baseball and plays on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.  I love watching them play, but shew I am only home a couple days a week.  I know I don't have to go to every game, but I do!  The season is coming to an end this week.  I am kinda glad, but I wouldn't change one thing about this season of baseball life.

Late hub played baseball and even coached our high school team.  Watching the boys play, brought memories back.  I so wish hub was here to watch his grands play, but I know he has the best view from Heaven.

2. Do you like honey? What's something you make or enjoy that calls for honey?

I like honey if it is local honey.  I do not make anything with honey, but I do put honey in my coffee.

3. "Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body." Proverbs 16:24

What's a proverb you love, or one that speaks to you or has helped you in some way?

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; don't rely on your own understanding." (Proverbs 3: 5-6)

Trust God even when you don't understand what/why something is happening.  To completely put my trust in God and not myself.  God will lead me in the right direction when I seek his guidance and presence.

The Bible is full of Proverbs, a whole book in fact, if that helps with your answer. The word proverb is defined as 'a short pithy saying in general use, stating a general truth or piece of advice'

4. Tell us about a 'sweet' moment in your life recently that filled you with joy, gratitude, or peace.

Last week I had a dermatologist appointment and had to have a mole removed from my forehead.  Right after the appointment, was Blake's baseball game. ( I went from school, to dermatologist appointment, to baseball)  The twins saw the bandage on my forehead and  started asking questions (million of them) and I had to explain a hundred times what happened but I told them I was okay.  I was watching Blake, it was his turn to hit the ball and out of the blue Liam (a twin) said, "Mamaw I just now prayed for your boo boo on your head."  Now, I lost it!!  Here I was yelling for Blake to hit the ball and Liam was thinking about my boo boo and praying,. I was filled with joy and gratitude.

5. When you were a child, what did you want to 'be' when you grew up? How close did you come to that?

I wanted to be a pediatric doctor.  At university, I did major in pre-med and took all those hard classes (to me they were) from microbiology to organic and inorganic chemistry, etc.  Then I fell deeply in love and changed majors to elementary and special education teacher.

I didn't come close to being a doctor, but I am still interacting with children.,.Middle Schoolers.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Even with all the baseball playing, I still had some time to begin my garden.

Lettuce and potatoes looking good!!!!!

Have a great rest of the week and Enjoy Life!!!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond

1. What's something you're curious about right now?

I am curious about a lot of things....why are boys associated with the color blue and girls associated with the color pink?, why do onions make me cry? etc.  BUT the biggest something I am curious about is  living in the USA a country with incredible wealth and some resources, that there is such a huge number of people living in poverty and many people who are homeless?  I just can't wrap my head around this.

2. If you could plan the perfect girl's weekend getaway, where would you go and what would be on the agenda? Do you have anything like this on your calendar in the next few months?

I would rent a cabin in the mountains.  My agenda would include:  horseback riding, walks, visiting coffee shops and small business stores.  The cabin must have a wrap around porch with rocking chairs and a grill.

I am going on a cruise the first of June.  This is a far cry from the mountains. lol

3. What's the most unique item in your refrigerator right now?

I had to open my refrigerator and see!!  It is only me, so my refrigerator is only 1/3 full.  The only unique item I see, which isn't really unique is dog food.

4. In this season of your life, what do you find most challenging?

Memory skills and physical abilities.  Here lately, I forget too much.  AND my physical abilities..my mind says , 'Yes", but then I take a tumble.  These are challenging for me, and I am not use to this.

5. Do you collect anything? If so why that?

Not anymore.  I use to collect lighthouses, but with age and moving so much. I don't collect them anymore.  Here lately, I collect DUST!!!  There is so much going on these last few months, I tell the grandkids don't touch the furniture or they will get dust on their hands!!!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Rainy, stormy evenings around here.

Baseball games are coming to a close.  School is coming to a close.  I feel like I am ready for all this closure.

I did get to work in my garden before all the rain hit!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond

1. Let's compare this May to last May. What's changed? What remains very much the same?

Nothing much has changed.  I am still involved in Bible Group Study.  The biggest change is my time in the evenings is now spent at the ballpark.  Oldest grandson plays on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.  The twins play on Saturdays.  I have been living off of popcorn.

So far, it has rained a lot and last May it rained a lot!!  I like to have never got my plants in the ground.  But then our summer was rainless!!  Still in the midst of giving all these Standards of Learning Test and still stressed as ever.  A test should not determine what a student knows.  AND if I were to assign a test, it would be something a student is interested in reading and not Marco Polo!!

2. What's something you may do this month?

I may start walking more.  Because of ballgames, I have really slacked off of walking.   When I walk, I can solve my problems and feel so much better.  But rushing home from school to feed my dog, jumping in my car to head to the ballpark, and getting home around 9 or later, I don't have it in me to walk.

3. Mother's Day is approaching (in the US of A)...in what way(s) are you like your mother?

I am not like my mom very much.  I guess when it comes to cleaning house, I am like my mom.  Even though it is only me and my dog, I can't stand it if I don't tidy up daily.

4. Did you have a favorite book as a child? What was it and why was it a favorite.

Rascal.  This book is about a boy who has a pet raccoon named Rascal.  It is a true story.  The boy and Rascal do a lot of fun adventures together, but he releases Rascal back to the woods.

5. Are you more of a tortoise or a hare? Explain.

Hare---My mind is an energized bunny.  Sometimes, I don't really listen to an entire conversation because my mind is thinking of an answer.  At night, my mind has a hard time shutting off. I give a quick idea before really thinking it through.  I am restless if a meeting lasts too long.  I like to check off lists and I like to finish projects way before the deadline.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Shew!!!  I am tired.  I know today is only Wednesday, but I have something every night this week!!  From baseball games, to meetings, to college graduation.

Have a great week and Enjoy Life!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What does adventure mean to you?  Adventure is something that is exciting!  I have always wanted to go skydiving, not happened yet.  But ...
